That on Saturday the 9th. instant Mr. Jury

was sent into the New Territories to inspect all the telephones

there and to report upon their condition.

This he failed to do owing to his becoming

intoxicated, and to such an extent that I understand he

developed delirium, and tried to commit suicide on Monday

morning the 11th. instant, in the Police Station at Taipo,

from thence he was removed by the Police to Hongkong and taken

to the Government Civil Hospital on Monday evening.
